Cavalry 500GB External Hard Drive Reviews

4 of 5 Good Deal!! Thursday, March 01, 2007
Jason from Houston, TX
I recently bought this hard drive and as noted, it worked right out of the box - complete plug-and-play. The only drawback is that the actual storage space is 465 gigs which is still plenty of storage but losing 35 gigs is significant. I did not format from NTFS to FAT32 because I only run XP on my computer and will really only use this to back up my music, photos, and important documents. Still a great deal and probably more memory space than I'll ever need. The transfer rate is decent and I really like the fact that it has a power switch at the back - my other external hard drive was always on. A note about the stand - you have to slide the nuts into the groove first, line up the stand and screw into the nuts. I took me a little bit to figure it out but the stand is fine too - plastic but functional. Hope this helps!

5 of 5 Good Value Thursday, March 01, 2007

This drive is a great buy for a cheap 500gb. It's plug-and-play and hasn't crapped out on
me yet. However, I do have 3 issues: --the drive is pretty slow --the drive heats up
pretty quickly an stays hot --the drive has a "process" light in the front that
will illuminate a dark room. I have this drive in my bedroom, and if I'm doing something
at night, it looks like I'm being attacked by aliens Overall, however, its a great buy if
you're a storage collector and need that quick, cheap fix. I'd buy again

5 of 5 works as advertised Wednesday, February 28, 2007

The product works as advertised. It came with a USB cable which was a nice suprise (unlike
most printers that don't).

5 of 5 Excellent addition to workstation Wednesday, February 28, 2007

I am very happy with this drive. The price was far under what a local retail warehouse is
selling their 500 Gig drive for. It is quiet and fast, was a simple plug and play for my
XP system, and is not unatractive on the shelf. I would buy another one in a second if I
needed more external storage.

5 of 5 Seems solid so far... Tuesday, February 27, 2007

This is a cheap way to increase your storage by 500GB. My only gripe involves the stand
which is very cheap (not like the picture) and I could not attach it with the included
screws (too short). No biggie as it runs fine on it's side. In my brief use (one week) the
drive is fast and a snap to detect/install. (I was told there is a Western Digital drive
inside the case although I didn't void my warranty to prove that.) Like any cheap hard
drive it's a steal unless/until it dies on you...so far so good!
