War of the Monsters ( Acting out the agressions of childhood males )
In this game you get to be a 60 foot monster! There are 10 monsters to choose from and
four variations of each for a total of 40 choices. The variations range from mere color
differences ( as for the lizard, Togera ) to structural differences( as for the dragon,
Raptros, who can be flesh, metal, ice, or skeleton! ) There is even one female character,
the 4th version of Ultra V. She is the most elegant of the fighters!
All monsters can run, jump, and climb ( in any direction ) and shoot invisible bullets.
You may as well not shoot the bullets, however, because they are totally ineffective
against your opponents!
Each monster has a unique weapon that the others don't have. They can all grab, throw, and
punch but Ultra V can tether the enemy from a distance and reel him in to clobber him! The
robot can shoot guided missles from its head. What a perfect game for 6-year-olds! The two
reptiles can breathe fire and cook the enemy. The insect can spawn a newt which devours
the opponent's brains. Rock man shoots boulders at his enemies and can detach his head and
throw it as a devastating weapon. Lava man shoots fireballs. The alien can summon an
armada of saucers that rain down meteors upon the victim. The gorilla has a roar that
beats all other weapons! Being the gorilla doesn't guarantee a win, however. Skill can
defeat an opponent regardless of his weapons or abilities!
Two of the monsters, Robo47 and Ultra V, have rocket boosters. But they are only good for
extended hops. The dragon and the mantis have wings for continuous flight. This adds
another dimension of fun and difficulty to the game. Trying to fight a flying enemy is a
problem. But the real challenge is being that flying enemy! It's
hard to coordinate throwing objects or using weapons while flying. It's easier to land
first and then use your weapons until you learn to fly gracefully! Flying will elevate you
to a more advanced player, when you get the hang of it!

In single-player mode, you fight one or two computer controlled monsters. You can choose
which monsters they will be, but look out -- they are merciless! Each player gets renewed
several times after he dies. This prolongs the game considerably and helps you to learn
the computer monster's strengths and weaknesses. In two-player mode, you fight each other
as well as the computer monsters ( your choice of zero, one, or two. ) Also you can team
up against your opponents. It's non-stop action!
There are some extra computer monsters besides the ten mentioned above. You cannot choose
to be any of these special foes. For instance, in Rosedale Canyon you fight giant red
ants. When you finally defeat them, you are confronted by a 200-foot flying robot that
throws bombs at you and tries to clip you with sharp propeller blades.
There are other aspects of this game besides the war. As a bonus you can also play several
monster-based arcade games :
