BurnOut Paradise  Reviews

1.    Burnout Paradise : Criterion's ripping new installment in the Burnout series

Criterion was on hand at EA's press event today to show off the latest and greatest version of the upcoming Burnout Paradise for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game made a splashy showing at this year's E3 Media & Business Summit, and our positive impressions of the speedy, gorgeous racer haven't really changed.

At today's event, we had a chance to check out the online and offline challenges.

The challenges are fast, fun cooperative experiences that have you performing stunts, catching a set amount of air, or other quick and easy tasks.

Though the game isn't done, Criterion reps on hand said the plan is to have well over 100 challenges for players to try, ensuring a hefty and varied amount of challenge.

Besides actively playing with friends, you can send out passive challenges as you play via the "road rules" feature, which gives you different timed challenges to try on every street.

The massive open world and destructible cars are a wicked evolution of the Burnout experience, revving up the hefty amount of fun already offered by the game.

2.    Burnout Paradise : They built this city for crashing cars.

The fast-moving Burnout series is crashing its way around a much larger area in Burnout Paradise.

And the resulting product, which is still in a pre-alpha state, is already looking like it could end up being a pretty amazing game.

That means you'll always be finding races, which you start by rolling up to a stop light and burning your tires to attract other racers.

You'll also find crash junctions, ramps to jump off of, fences or other obstacles to bash through, as well as, of course, lots and lots of traffic.

Along with seeking out jumps and other little things in the world, another recent addition to the series is a little side game called power parking, which sounds like it will pop up any time you find two cars parked close together on the side of the road.

In addition to the single-player mode, the game has some unique-looking online features for up to eight players.

Rather than cut to a menu or a loading screen, the game simply informs you that a player has joined, the player drops into the world, and you go on driving.

While the PlayStation 3 version being shown at E3 was marked as a pre-alpha version of the game, it already had a lot of the interesting nuances and features that you'd expect from a final product.

3.   Burnout Paradise

Burnout Paradise now has a release date of Jan. 22 in North America, and a demo of the game will be available in December for both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, Electronic Arts has announced.

This is the definitive Burnout experience because Paradise removes all restrictions, breaks all the rules and puts the control in your hands," said EA Criterion creative director Alex Ward.

Earlier this year, EA unveiled a pre-order program for Burnout Paradise with GameStop.

Early GameStop customers will receive an exclusive car, "Steel Wheels," which features armor-plating and a supercharged 6735cc V8.

4.   Burnout Paradise ( Also known as: Burnout 5 )

The fifth entry in the gonzo racing series, Burnout Paradise gives players license to wreak havoc in Paradise City, the ultimate racing battleground, with a massive infrastructure of traffic-heavy roads to abuse. Gone is the need to jump in and out of menus and aimlessly search for fun like many open world games; in Burnout 5, every inch of the world is built to deliver heart-stopping Burnout-style gameplay. Every intersection is a potential crash junction and every alleyway is an opportunity to rack up moving violations. Feel the adrenaline course through your veins as you take to the road for the first time in Paradise City, where the action is all around you. Explore the city, discover events, and look for the best opportunities to crash, jump and pull signature takedowns. In Burnout Paradise yo'’re given the keys to the city, but it's up to you to earn the keys to the meanest and most dangerous cars on the street, and earn your Burnout license.
